Samivel has illustrated several great classics
- Les voyages de Gulliver (Gulliver's Travels) by Swift, the complete version (1945).
- L'oeuvre poétique (The poetic work) by Villon (1945)
- Gargantua (1934) and Pantagruel (1935), in an adaptation for younger readers.
- The Fables de la Fontaine (Aesop's Fables) (1944)
He has also illustrated other authors including:
- Ramuz, "La Grande peur dans la Montagne (Fear in the mountains)" (1946) published in 2004
by the Associations Friends of Samivel and Friends of Ramuz.
- Van Der Meulen, Les Dynastes (Dynasties) (1942)
- Alain Bombard, Naufragé Volontaire (A deliberate shipwreck) ( 1953)
- Norbert Casteret, Histoires au-dessous de tout (Stories from below) ( 1946)

- Parade des diplodocus (
Parade of the diplodocus) (1933) a comic cartoon, where he created the characters
of Samovar and Baculot who appear in " Les blagueurs de Bagdad (
Jokers of Bagdad)" (1935)
